Description

Laszlo Nemes employs a provocative shooting scheme for his debut film, 'Son of Saul'. This award-winning Holocaust drama is centered entirely around the main character; we see his head as he moves around Auschwitz as part of the Sonderkommando, and we occasionally see what he sees.  Saul believes he has found his son among the pile of bodies he is expected to burn, and he sets about have last rites performed on the boy, and thereby save his soul.  While Phil agreed the film was deliberate in it's shooting style, he still found himself intermittently bored. Andrew also had some problems with the unconventional way Nemes directed the movie.  Hear our two critics talk smack about this universally praised film.
