Lars Von Trier wraps up his curious bi-film with aplomb. Joe is now all grown up, and played (almost) entirely by Charlotte Gainsbourg. She struggles to regain her sex drive, which she lost at the end of the previous film. In her adventures she subjects herself to the sadomasochistic torture of Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) and gets closer to the well-mannered Seligman, who listens dutifully to her hellish tale. After being dumped and discarded by those she loved, Joe finally finds some measure of peace as she concludes her story with a revelation that might offer up some much-needed healing. Seligman listens intently, and in a surprising way, the film concludes.
SPOILER ALERT: Phil and Andrew can't bear to not talk about the ending to this film in explicit detail. Be advised, they WILL spoil the conclusion for you if don't already know it!
