Steven Spielberg collaborates with Disney and all our hopes are high. The source material is Roald Dahl and we know this is going to be good. But the outcome is less than great. 'The BFG' is faithful to the language of the book and several aspects of the special effects are cool, but Spielberg was never an expert humorist and the technical aspects are developed more than the actual story. A late scene that deals with the Queen of England seems like it's going to end the film, but then it keeps on going. Essentially an animated film, Andrew and Phil surmise Spielberg took on this project because it pushed the boundaries of movie technology.
