In Kenneth Lonergan's New England-set drama, responsibility to one's family is everything. Men take care of their kids, and when tragedy strikes, a man must cope. Casey Affleck has won many an acting award this year for his towering performance as Lee Chandler, a janitor whose laconic demeanor masks a lot of pain. All the actors in 'Manchester By The Sea' are stellar, and they craft flesh and blood characters that will haunt you after the lights come up. It is a drama that has a dose of humor and ample heartbreak. We can all recognize the world of this film because it is drawn from life. One of the years best.
