Some people just aren't charmed by dance numbers on the 405. Andrew could barely hide his disappointment with this film. He believes it is a pointless, mediocre attempt to revive the movie musical. Phil liked it, but it's hard to ignore the singing and dancing in this film are not up to par. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are charismatic movie stars, but they can't hold a candle to Gene Kelly or (God rest her soul) Debbie Reynolds. Every now and then, a film disappoints, except this particular film has gotten universally rave reviews. 'La La Land' will most certainly win the Golden Globe for Best Musical/Comedy. The question is will it maintain the momentum needed to take home Oscar gold?
