Description

Today, Andrew and Phil are joined by Eric, a new guest on ITQ who recommends Ava DuVernay's Oscar-nominated documentary about mass incarceration of African-Americans.  The excellent film is available for streaming on Netflix and DuVernay could become the first black woman to win an Oscar for directing a film of any type.  '13th' makes a convincing case that the massive imprisonment of black and brown people is not because they commit more crimes, but rather an extension of the siavery mentality.  Illuminating interviews with Angela Davis, Newt Gingrich and others enforce the thesis of this topic.
