Description

Horror films don't get much more cerebral than this.  Trey Edward Shults' genre-defying domestic drama will disappoint those wanting a monster movie (the terror is not clearly explained) but as a depiction of a man attempting to protect his family in uncertain times - it's great.  Phil normally finds himself impatient with slow-moving films like this, but in the case of A24's latest offering, there is much to think about.  Andrew loves ambiguous narratives that leave a lot to the imagination and this film certainly delivers that.  Joel Edgerton gives an astounding lead performance and the rest of the small cast is also good, especially Kelvin Harrison Jr, who might actually be the main character...
