Phil here: Last week, Andrew and I had a spontaneous conversation about what I believed to be the death of the cinema. We were about to record a completely unrelated episode about ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (great movie) but our guest fell through and I also had something to get off my chest. I had just finished a video essay for Fandor about how old TV shows get repackaged into movies, which combined with my opinion that movies are more disposable than ever led to this discussion. I used the term "cinema" to describe the theatrical experience. Think of this episode as a companion piece to my video essay, which I will also post here for our loyal listeners.
