A visionary sci-fi film directed by Denis Villenueve is always cause for celebration. IMDb fans have championed BLADE RUNNER 2049, but disappointing box office and complaints of sexism and self-indulgence plague the near-three hour sequel. Andrew found the movie captivating, but Phil believes it to be slow-moving and unnecessarily long. Hard to ignore also is the depiction of women, which has raised the ire of many feminists. Phil brings up the objectification of female characters, but Andrew refutes that the story necessitates such a viewpoint. Does the film stand up compared to the original BLADE RUNNER?
