Off Task is a bi-weekly podcast about TikTok. In each episode your hosts––Alyssa, Taha, and Joey––take listener requests to break down specific TikTok trends. Over the course of the discussion, we will summarize specific trends and dissect why they are trending in the first place. The goal is simple: to unpack the content from the fastest growing social media app and ask the tough questions about why something is trending and what it says about our culture more generally.

In a recent interview on Alex Cooper’s podcast “Call Her Daddy,” actress Julia Fox discussed her relationship with ex-boyfriend Kanye West. When asked if she was West’s muse, Fox agreed and added that she’d had that position before when filming the 2019 crime thriller, Uncut Gems: “I was Josh Safdie’s muse when he wrote Uncut Gems.” However, the clip has blown up since TikTok creates began to the way that Fox said the film’s title – “Uncuh Jahmz.”

Context for “Adult Swim Parody”:
Remember Cartoon Network's late-night programming block, Adult Swim? This block was a space for classic adult cartoons such as Family Guy, King Of The Hill, Robot Chicken, etc. If you watched the Adult Swim block, which aired from 8pm to 6am, then you'll remember their short commercial clips that featured an embedded “[as]” logo and aired between ad breaks and TV shows. Well, these clips are called “bumpers” or “bumps,” and TikTok creators have led us on a trip down memory lane with a new trend encouraging users to recreate or parody these bumpers!
