On this dojo, tony reflects on being a parent and furthermore, being a parent with a disability- from his perspective and experiences. As a parent with a disability, he shares challenges that he faces and the virtues he’s learned from his adversities. Tony acknowledges how having a disability has taught him how to be adaptable, resilient, to persevere, and how to not concerning himself with what others may think of him. Despite the evolving difficulties of having a disability, he finds gratitude in the opportunity to gain virtues he may not otherwise would’ve been able to receive. As a result, Tony makes a conscious effort to drive these virtues home to his children in different ways, teaching them to understand privilege and disability. He shares his efforts to impart both a growth mindset and limitless mindset upon his children, teaching them that they shouldn’t have any limiting beliefs about what they can achieve. And he notes that perhaps the greatest gift as a parent that he can give to his kids is being fully present when he is with them because these moments.. they go by fast.
