Laura Lee Putzback has over 30 years experience in health and human services, working with folks with mental health, substance abuse, developmental disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer’s, elderly, homeless, and the economically challenged.

Laura is a service handler and has a service dog named Riley. Together, they travel throughout the state of Florida to help educate and conduct free trainings.

In this episode, Laura unpacks why being an advocate is important. She talks about the common access and functional needs that people with services animals often experience during natural disasters, as well as, during everyday emergencies that might involve car accidents, fires, and other types of injuries where first responders are present. Laura illuminates the importance of the people that have assistance animals, when it comes to engaging them in this pre-planning process with organizations who are looking at their policies and procedures, as well as, other actions plans in order to make sure that they’re ready for when situations occur with people with service animals

Laura represents The Service Dog Alliance of Florida- an incredible resource and organization which offers FREE trainings any where in the state of Florida. They help to educate organizations and agencies about the laws and responsibilities they have in making sure the accommodations for people who use service animals, are met.
