Hibiscus (lime) tea.
🇬🇧 To start this new year, we have invited Martina Burtscher who joined our team three months ago under the Erasmus Entrepreneurs Program. She is originally from Austria 🇦🇹 but she has traveled quite a bit and has lived in other countries such as Sri Lanka, where she founded one of her main projects: Sea Sisters Sri Lanka. Martina was also one of our women entrepreneurs from the 1st cohort of #TheBreakFellowship program that we hosted back in October 2022 🙌
She chose the hibiscus tea because of the meaning of the actual flower 🌺. It reminds her of home, it connects her with her passion for surfing 🏄 and to places like El Salvador, where she bought it for the last time as a gift for some of her friends. We also realized that we all love the Iced Hibiscus tea that we always have at Finde Café (in Santa Cruz de Tenerife).
The conversation got deeper when we started talking about presents given as we just went through Christmas 🎄and we are now approaching the Three Kings day 👑 in Spain. We discussed the meaning of presents 🎁 for the three of us. We all agreed that we now prefer to buy experiences or useful things rather than buying for the sake of buying. Funny fact was that for both Martina & Elsa the elephant is the symbol of their families, so they used to always bring from their trips different kinds of elephants, what a nice coincidence! 🐘
To end up we talked about our goals for the year we’ve just started and how we plan ahead. This time around we would like to focus more on living our lives rather than having tons of objectives 🎯: “Less is more”. Martina mentioned that she likes to have a word to define her year and we want to do the same. What would be your word for 2024? Share it with us 💭

🇪🇸 Para empezar este nuevo año 2024 hemos invitado a Martina Burtscher, que se unió a nuestro equipo hace tres meses en el marco del Programa Erasmus para Emprendedores. Ella es de Austria 🇦🇹 pero ha viajado bastante y ha vivido en otros países; como en Sri Lanka donde fundó uno de sus proyectos: Sea Sisters Sri Lanka 🌊. Ella eligió el té de hibisco por el significado de la flor 🌺. Le recuerda a su casa, le conecta con su pasión por el surf 🏄 y con lugares como El Salvador donde lo compró por última vez como regalo para algunos de sus amigos. También nos dimos cuenta que a todos nos encanta la limonada de té de hibisco que siempre tomamos en Finde Café en Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
La conversación fue más profunda cuando empezamos a hablar de regalos dado que acabamos de pasar la Navidad 🎄 y ya nos acercamos al día de Reyes 👑 en España. Hablamos del significado de los regalos 🎁 para nosotros y coincidimos en que ahora preferimos comprar experiencias o cosas útiles en lugar de comprar por comprar. Lo curioso es que tanto para Martina como Elsa el elefante es el símbolo de sus familias, por lo que siempre traían a casa de sus viajes diferentes tipos de elefantes, ¡qué coincidencia! 🐘
Para terminar hablamos sobre nuestros objetivos para el año 2024 que acaba de empezar y cómo planeamos. Esta vez nos gustaría centrarnos más en vivir nuestras vidas en lugar de tener muchos objetivos 🎯; “Menos es más”.
