Welcome back to Reading with Ben! Let's continue the lecture on the book of 1 Kings.
This is episode #08 chapters 15 & 16.
1 Kings Chapter 15, tells the story of Abijah, who was the King of Judah. The chapter tells us that he was not a righteous man like his forefather, King David. But God was merciful to him anyway and gave him a son and made Jerusalem a strong city. This is because David, now long dead, had kept the Lord’s commandments except when it came to the trouble with Bathsheba and Uriah the Hittite.
1 Kings Chapter 16, Elah succeeded his father, Baasha, as the new king of Israel and he reigned for two years. He was in a home in Arza getting drunk when Zimri, a chariot commander, killed him. Zimri then became king in Tirzah.
