Welcome back to Reading with Ben! Let's continue the lecture on the book of 1 Samuel.
This is episode #08 chapters 15 & 16.
1 Samuel Chapter 15, told Saul that the Lord had sent him to anoint Saul as the king over the people of Israel. He said that the Lord had a message for Saul. The message was that Saul was to destroy the Amalekites right down to the last living creature because of the way they had destroyed the Israelites when they came up out of Egypt.
1 Samuel Chapter 16, the Lord rejects Saul as the King of the Israelites, but Samuel grieves anyway. God reproves Samuel for mourning Saul, but tells him to go to Bethlehem to a man named Jesse. God has chosen one of Jesse’s sons to replace Saul. Samuel is afraid to go to Bethlehem because he is afraid Saul will hear about the new king and kill Samuel.
