This shout highlights all the first responders from local, regional, state or federal agencies who responded to provide aid and assistance in the wake of Hurricane Ian. The tireless work of these professionals truly highlights the spirit of fire and emergency services.
From here the team dives into this weeks topic: #scba confidence. While the fire service truly is an all-hazards agency with many specialties, the premise of this episode is to ensure members are mastering the basics. The JobTlks team discusses what is means to have SCBA confidence, and that beyond being technically and tactically competent with the tool members must be mentally prepared to use SCBA’s under extreme exertion.
The JobTlks team highlights tools and techniques to not only master the physical but the mental game of SCBA use, such as use in confined spaces and under significant workload. The team further discusses the concept of ROAM (Rules of Air Management) and how to potential conserve air in a #mayday event.
