Sunday School Stories - Sorry about the audio but it works!
Key Doctrine:
The Doctrine of the Hypostatic Union: This is the reality that in the singular person of Jesus Christ are two natures! Jesus was fully God and fully human. (Or as R.C. Sprouls would say Truly God and Truly man.). For Christ to have these two natures in one is to allow for Him to accomplish what only the true Messiah and Savior could:
- live under the confines of our brokenness (human), and yet overcome it all (divine). Ultimately being able to overcome sin and death.
- There has never been a point that Jesus was only one of these realities. He entered the world as both and left the world as both! Why? To be the perfect bridge between God and man. To bring the right redemption of sins penalty.
Colossians 2:9, 1 Timothy 2:5, Hebrews 2:14, John 3:13, Acts 1:9-11
Points:
1. Cling to the Word of God even when it conflicts with culture and tradition!
2. When we focus on God, He makes the simplest and most normal of places sacred!
3. When you experience Jesus, you never leave the same, be different!
Questions:
1. What does it mean to you that our savior came in the form of a baby in a manger?
2. People claim that Jesus was a good moral teacher, that He was a prophet, or that he simply was the example of how we all can be Christ. From the birth story of Jesus, how do we combat these heresies?
3. What are some current things happening in the culture that seem normal, but the bible actually calls you to be different in?
