According to Hale Dwoskin, "Emotions are just emotions.  They are not you, they are not facts, and you can let them go."

Did you know you create a lot of unnecessary pain in your life?  Each time you lock on to a thought, or hold onto an emotion, you suffer.  A great example of this is how you react to physical pain.  When you do so, you generate negative thoughts, and these thoughts create mental suffering.

-  What if it gets worse?

-  What if I fail?

-  With this pain, today's going to be challenging.

-  I don't have the money.  How will I pay hospital bills if things get worse?

This internal dialogue creates suffering but does nothing to help solve the problem.
