Our bodies respond to emotions in different ways, we start to think differently and many of us end up in survival mode.
In survival mode:-

Everything is urgent 
We feel helpless
We Panic
We are just trying to get through the day 
We are constantly rushing 
We are blaming everyone around us/ or can't seem to accept their help.
We become Overwhelmed
We can't think straight

To Regain Control when we are in survival mode: - 

You need to acknowledge that you're in survival mode. 
Take a deep breath and access the situation. 
Use the But what if the strategy. 

We have to regain control to get out of the survival mode and get moving on our plans.
