Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.  I’m Fred Fishkin.  The demise of Argo, the Ford and Volkswagen backed autonomous vehicle venture has rattled many in the industry.  But Alain Kornhauser, faculty chair of autonomous vehicle engineering at Princeton University, sees it as potentially a good thing.  Speaking on the Smart Driving Cars podcast, which I co-host by the way, Kornhauser said he hopes it will focus more attention on a better business model….using the technology to provide affordable mobility services to people who have real needs and few options…

“It’s taking and looking at the technology, basically, that what we have and where is the market where it really is disruptive.”

Kornhauser says affordable, driverless transportation with ride sharing when possible can be life changing for many and a profitable business as well.
