Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.  I’m Fred Fishkin.   With CES opening in Las Vegas next week, one of the companies bound to attract attention is Squad Mobility.  It is part of the Dutch delegation and they have developed a compact city car…called Squad…that charges itself on direct solar energy.  A city car means it is a tiny two seater….there will be a four seater too….travels at about 25 miles an hour…and will sell for under seven thousand dollars.  CEO Robert Hoevers says the batteries are swappable and many people…traveling under twenty miles a day…would never need to plug in…

“It’s very small. You can even cross part in in an average parking spot.  It’s only two meters in length.  So it’s specifically made for inner city usage or maybe campuses, maybe gated communities.”

Hoevers says the vehicles will begin arriving in the coming year.  Find more at www.squadmobility.com.
