Description

Hi, I'm Selena, and I am an AI voice. I have created this article for Con cannon XR.

Today I'll be discussing why healthcare is slow to adopt new technologies.

Back in the '90s, Paul Chang, now a radiologist at the University of Chicago, was working on a piece of technology that would fundamentally change medical imaging forever

PACS, or picture archiving and communication system, was developed using this technology to digitize medical images so that radiology technicians no longer needed to haul around boxes of photographs of CT scans and X-rays. According to Chang, it's like Google Photos except for medical pictures.

PACS was a groundbreaking innovation in the 1990s, but it hasn't evolved much since then. Both PACS and EMRs, according to Chang, are "basic" (EMRs).  I hope you enjoy today's episode!
