Part 1
This week Sergio Aguero became the top-scoring foreign player in Premier League history, after scoring a hat trick against Aston Villa. He now sits on 177 goals and doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon.
Hello and welcome to the Total Football podcast, I am your host Declan Harte and joining me is Andrew Conway.
Andrew, where does Aguero rank among the great Premier League players?
Part 2
Tottenham lost once again, Mourinho has been in charge for 2 months and it feels like he’s in his 3rd season already. A man who once thrived on spoiling the day, has now only his own day spoiled.
Part 3
It’s been a hectic seven days for Barcelona. First they were knocked out the Spanish Super Cup by Atletico Madrid, a team who won neither La Liga nor the Copa Del Rey last season. After which Luis Suarez suffered an injury that has effectively ended his season.
Then over the weekend, the board held talks with Xavi about taking over the not-vacant managerial position, which Xavi rejected. The board moved on to current Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman, who also rejected the position.
All the while Ernesto Valverde has remained in charge of the first team, he even took training this morning despite the speculation surrounding his future. It now looks like Quique Setien will step in to take over on a 2.5 year deal, but the way things have gone who knows what further twists and turns await us. This really poses the questions, what on earth is going on over at the Nou Camp, and is there a way they could’ve handled this scenario any worse than they have?
Part 4
What no-one refers to as "The Classic" takes place next weekend. Manchester United travel to Anfield, Solskjaer's men remain the only team to take points off Liverpool this season. Can they repeat their performance from the reverse fixture, or will Liverpool simply be too good for the Red Devils this time out?
