Then there were four, but how entertaining was the FA Cup quarter final? Pandemic or no, questions remain the same at Barcelona

Part 1

Today Nike unveiled their design for next season’s top tier football. It is called the “Flight” and they’ve described it as the greatest innovation since the Jabulani. Because that’s the comparison all football players, and fans, want to hear.

Hello and welcome to the Total Football podcast. I am your host, Declan Harte, and joining me is Andrew Conway.

Andrew, what are your thoughts on the “Flight”?

Part 2

Liverpool are, of course, Premier League champions. We all knew this day was coming, but Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Man City last Thursday finally confirmed it.

That victory was the start of a good week for Chelsea, into the FA Cup semi finals and five points clear of their opponents for fourth and in the FA Cup, Manchester United

Man United got to the semis off the back of their second win of the week, beating Norwich 2-1 AET, but the bigger win was their 3-0 victory over rivals Sheffield United

Sheffield United themselves were knocked out the cup following a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal. A bad re-start for Sheffield derailing their otherwise good season

But it’s Leicester City’s re-start that looks to be most threatening their previous good work. Sitting comfortably in third just a few months ago, are they now in danger of missing out on Champions League football?

Part 3

European football has also gotten underway in recent weeks. Bayern Munich ended the Bundesliga season with their 8th title in a row. Meanwhile Lazio and Juventus are still battling out the top of Serie A. But in La Liga, Barcelona have ceded their control at the top of the table, following a disappointing 2-2 draw at Celta Vigo. Reports of bizarre transfer dealings, and now that Quique Setien might be on the chopping block come the end of the season, mean that it is as ridiculous at the Nou Camp as ever in the late-stage Messi era. What on earth is going on in Barcelona?

Part 4

The days keep coming, the games keep coming. More midweek Premier League action awaits, as the season attempts to draw to a close as quickly as possible. This week we’ve got first against second on Thursday evening. A humiliating moment awaits Pep Guardiola as they give Liverpool a Guardiola of honour at the Etihad.
