In a dramatic week of Premier League football, both on and off the pitch, it is important that to take the time out to remember the legacy of Jack Charlton.
Part 1
It was with great sadness on Saturday morning that the football world learned of the passing of Jack Charlton at age 85. He was a World Cup winner with England in 1966, a league and FA Cup winner under Don Revie at Leeds United and, most notably, the most successful manager the Republic of Ireland has ever had.
Hello and welcome to the Total Football podcast, I am your host Declan Harte and joining me is Andrew Conway.
Andrew, just what did big Jack mean for this country?
Part 2
In recent years the North London Derby has been the highlight of the season for neutrals, but not this weekend. A 2-1 win for Tottenham, and a moral victory for Jose Mourinho against fun.
Chelsea’s form continues to nose dive, a 3-0 defeat away to Sheffield United is a particularly striking low point for Frank Lampard this season.
Though Leicester’s total collapse appears to be Chelsea’s savior. A 4-1 defeat to relegation candidates Bournemouth has delivered a potentially fatal blow to their Champions League aspirations
Meanwhile, the chasing pack all picked up 3-0 wins in their last game. The aforementioned 3-0 win for Chris Wilder’s men, of course, but also Wolves’ 3-0 win over Everton and Manchester United’s 3-0 win against Aston Villa.
Part 3
Last week we discussed the race for the Champions League places. But with today’s news that Manchester City’s appeal to CAS over their two-year ban from the competition has been overturned, what are the implications of this for City, UEFA, Financial Fair Play and the rest of the Premier League?
Part 4
After a dismal weekend for the Champions League placed teams, can Chelsea and Leicester turn it around? Or will the chasing pack reach striking distance heading into the final week of Premier League action? And who will earn their place in this year’s FA Cup final?
