It was announced today that the Ballon D’or will not be awarded this year, for the first time since 1956. It is also expected that the PFA Premier League Player of the Year award winner will be announced this coming Friday. The key decision is supposedly between Kevin De Bruyne or Jordan Henderson. But, in a year without the Ballon D’or, just what are the values and meanings behind individual awards in football?

The final day of the season looms large over many parts of the table, but before we arrive there on Sunday afternoon, we must first play out a few more games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Do we foresee any major changes to the shape of the table?
