The goals just keep coming, as we analyse an entertaining weekend of Premier League action.
Part 1
This weekend saw 39 goals from 8 Premier League games. Only two sides managed to keep a clean sheet, and 12 sides scored more than once. A feast of goals, and still zero drawn games in the league this season.
Hello and welcome to the Total Football podcast. I am your host Declan Harte, and joining me is Andrew Conway.
Andrew, can it always be like this, will it always be like this?
Part 2
Everton’s good start to the season continued. Am I mad, or do I absolutely love this team now?
Since we last spoke, Chelsea have played two and won one. How has Frank’s newlook side been doing?
Liverpool were the side to beat Chelsea, but they also made some transfer market moves unexpectedly. First, Thiago came in but then Diogo Jota for £41m from Wolves was signed out of nothing.
Arsenal weren’t as good against West Ham, but more importantly picked up the three points. But was Auba’s new 3-year deal the most important move they made this week?
Tottenham had a busy week. First, they came from behind to win their Europa League play-off in Bulgaria, then they signed Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid and then they finished with a 5-2 win over Southampton. Good week all in all?
Part 3
Manchester United started their season this weekend, losing 3-1 at home to Crystal Palace. It was their first league loss since the signing of Bruno Fernandes, but 12 months on from losing to Palace 2-1, a lot of problems still remain at Old Trafford. It’s been a turbulent Summer and the defeat was met with even more negativity surrounding the club. Are the rumours of Solskjaer’s demise greatly exaggerated, or is this the beginning of the end?
Part 4
Next weekend starts with Man United’s visit to the Amex. After their poor start last weekend, will the misery continue or does their campaign start here?
Meanwhile, the weekend’s biggest game is Manchester City’s home game against Leicester. How will this one play out?
