Last week, in our breaking news special regarding the Irish national team management position we discussed the future of Irish football. Fast forward to Sunday and not only have the FAI hired their next manager, they’ve also hired the next manager after that! Premier League returned to action this week without much going on. Two title contenders winning comfortably enough. Arsenal continued their unbeaten run. But Man United were the ones who slumped to a laborious 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace. Fans booing the team off the pitch at the end of both halves. Tottenham won comfortably 3-1. By far their best performance of the season. La Liga had another twist in the tale this week. Real Madrid lost 3-0 at Eibar. Atletico drew 1-1 with Barcelona, Diego Costa and Ousmane Dembele the goal scorers Bayern’s form continues to be terrible. Were 3-1 up with 30 minutes to go against Dusseldorf only to draw 3-3. They are now 9 points off Dortmund in 5th place. This week N’Golo Kanté signed a bumper, 5 years, 325,000£ a week contract at Chelsea. On Saturday, his side were on the end of their first defeat of the season and first defeat under new manager Maurizio Sarri. A humiliating and humbling display leaves Chelsea in 4th place and only 1 point ahead of rivals Arsenal. But Kanté’s role remains a mystery. How does Sarri solve the Kanté puzzle? PSG vs. Liverpool/Napoli vs. Red Star Belgrade. Only 2 points between top and bottom in this group, could go any way. Neymar and Mbappe may be out for PSG. Tottenham vs. Inter Milan. Only 3 points separating the sides as they meet at Wembley. There’s a big Sunday ahead of us in the Premier League too, no doubt Sky will be advertising it as some sort of Derby Sunday or some such variation: Chelsea vs. Fulham at 1200 Arsenal vs. Tottenham at 1405 Liverpool vs. Everton at 1615 Contact us: @thetfpod on Twitter and @totalfootballpod on Instagram or email us at theTFpod@gmail.com Remember to rate/review the show on your podcast provider of choice and do tell friends and family about the show.
