Part 1
Wednesday afternoon it was announced that the Guardian’s David Pemsel would be taking over as the Premier League’s new Chief Executive. It was only 4 days later when the Premier League title race would take yet another dramatic turn, and yet no one in the UK was able to watch any of it.
Hello and welcome to the Total Football podcast. I am your host, Declan Harte, and joining me today is Andrew Conway and the returning Matthijs O’Flaherty.
Andrew, will this move finally see the Premier League move into the modern age of sports broadcasting, or will we forever be stuck in the past?
Part 2
Liverpool’s lead is now 8 points. We built up their match with Leicester as a match where we’d learn a lot about both these sides based on the outcome. So, what did we learn?
That lead is now 8 points because Man City were beaten 2-0 at home to Wolves. It is still only October, but can we firmly call Liverpool favourites now?
Arsenal are now only 1 point behind City and sit in 3rd, yet something doesn’t seem right at the Emirates.
Man United’s lost 1-0 to Newcastle United in what now feels like a limbo competition with Tottenham. Just how low can they go?
Tottenham lost 3-0, Aaron Connolly with 2 goals on his first Premier League start. Want to give credit to Brighton here before we dive into what on earth is going on at Tottenham
Part 3
As we head into the second international break of the season, rumours are already beginning to swirl around regarding the long-term employment of various managers across Europe’s elite clubs. We saw Javi Gracia be ruthlessly sacked during the first international break, last September, will we be seeing any more during this 2 week period? And more importantly, will any of these potential changes be necessary, or just another panic move by a club with no direction, or no planning?
