Last week in Monaco the Champions League group stage draw took place. While the draw itself hasn’t left many wondering what 16 teams will progress to the second round, it does make for a good launchpad for discussion as to European football as a whole. Last season all of the traditional top 5 league titles, i.e. Spain, England, Italy, Germany and France all saw their champions retain the crown. Last season also saw initial plans for a new Champions League format be put forward, involving promotion and relegation.
These two things leave us wondering, what is the future of European football?

As the title race continues, will Liverpool’s winning run come to an end at Newcastle, and can Norwich pull off the unlikeliest of upsets against the champions? Doubtful…
