Privilege - a special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available only to a particular person or group.
There are plenty of discussions being had about "privilege" these days.. While white privilege, male privilege, and straight privilege typically account for the bulk of these discussions, examples of other types of identity that can afford an individual privilege include: religion, socioeconomic status, country of origin, language, and/or ability. One other form of privilege that spans all spectrums of identity but is rarely discussed is pretty privilege, or the "Halo effect". This week the Intellects discuss pretty privilege, and some of it's many benefits (63:00).
The gentleman also discuss a plethora of other topics in "First things First" (9:36) such as contention in the Democratic party prior to the last debate before the Iowa caucuses (9:58), Oprah Winfrey stepping away from her latest #metoo documentary (12:53), Prince Harry and Meghan Markle renouncing their throne (14:24), activists protesting the inhumane conditions at Parchman Prison in Mississippi (17:44), and 23andMe selling the rights to develop drugs based on its users' DNA (21:06).
