Description

"O death! Rock me asleep, bring me the quiet rest; let pass my weary guiltless ghost out of my careful breast; toll on the passing bell, ring out the doleful knell, let thy sound my death tell, death doth draw nigh; there is no remedy." - Anne Boleyn - written while waiting for her eventual demise (execution).

Born in Norfolk between 1501 and 1507 at the Boleyn home at Blickling, Anne Boleyn is considered by many historians to be the martyr and heroine of the English Reformation. She was the second wife of King Henry VIII and was recognized as the Queen Consort of England from 1533 to 1536. Described as slender with dark brown eyes, olive complexion, and known to have a sharp tongue with a charming demeanor, Anne lived a life that ultimately ended in tragedy and suffering. Despite being Queen Consort of England, and living a somewhat charmed life growing up, Anne went through plenty before her untimely, and frankly, needless, death.
