Jon Totten is the Founder and Executive Director of Dogsmile Adventures. A non-profit sailing adventure organization based out of Sandpoint, ID.
Dogsmile Adventures is focused on veterans, local youth, and other under-served communities because they matter. Our veterans have sacrificed greatly for our safety and have been wildly unsupported when they return home. Our youth are our future. People need our help and it’s time we give it to them.
While their focus is on underserved communities, such as veterans, local youth, victims of domestic violence, and those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, their programs are open to anyone interested in experiencing the healing power of sailing.
Their intention is to offer therapeutic sailing experiences to anyone in our community who’d like to participate. This program is for everyone.
Here is a quote from Jon Totten explaining the meaning of a Dogsmile. “Dogsmile is an expression of unadulterated happiness. You're so happy that you don't care about how you look or how you're seen or what anyone else thinks. It's the biggest grin possible. The more teeth, the better (this part is key as it scares away the haters and those who are simply unaware).”
