On Christmas Eve, 1945, a fire broke out at the Sodder home while George, Jennie and 9 of their 10 children were sleeping inside. Only 4 of the 9 children made it out alive, or so the family initially thought. Further investigation uncovered information that started George and Jennie on a lifelong pursuit for answers as to what happened to 5 of their children that night.
