On July 6th 1944 in Hartford, CT, excited ticket holders hurried into the big top to see the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, “the Greatest Show on Earth.” What started as a day filled with joy and wonder ended in terror and chaos when a fire broke out during the performance, burning the big top to the ground. Was it an accident or arson?
