Episode 179 features Anthony SanFilippo of PCS Theater.
Anthony SanFilippo, the producing director at PCS Theater, discussed the theater's history and current operations. He explained that PCS Theater, located in Springfield near Swarthmore, is celebrating its 114th season and offers a variety of productions including main stage plays, children's shows, and cabarets. Anthony highlighted that the theater, which started as a men's club in 1911, has grown significantly over the years and now attracts performers from across the region. He emphasized that PCS Theater is unique among community theaters for owning its own space, allowing for larger-scale productions.
Anthony became involved with the theater through his daughter's interest in acting, starting in 2010. He initially read a scene with her in 2012 and was then cast in the Neil Simon play "Brighton Beach Memoirs." Since then, Anthony has served as the producing director at Players Club, overseeing productions and selecting the season and directors. He has also served on the board of governors since 2015 and directed several shows.
