Description

The Charlotte Writer’s Club teamed up with Seniorliving community Southminister, for an Ekphrastic Writing Contest. Remember,Ekphrastic writing is that inspired by a work of visual art. Writers werepaired with Southminister artists and challenged to write a no-more-than 300word poem or story in response to a work of art created by that resident.

I was assigned a watercolor of amother goose traipsing through the grass followed by her two goslings. Thischarming picture was painted by Nancy Minnick. Right around that time, my sixyear old neighbor, Theo Rogers, told me he’d come up with the name Skipity Rizler.I loved the name. He gave me permission to use it in a story.

The following tale, entitled “LooseyGoosey” just wouldn’t have been the same without Theo’s input.

And we all know, it’s who youknow. Well, I met lovely Louisa and Tom on a recent trip to South America.Lucky me, they cajoled their son, Neil Hellegers, to read my story. It’s luckyme because Neil is a NY City based actor who has been in TV shows, commercials, and given voice to over 350 novels.
