Now that Ray has committed an assault with a deadly weapon, Jack has no choice but to stop being a cool dude, resume being a police officer, and take control of the situation. Annie accomplishes one big plot point by shifting Sam out of the way and settling into the driver's seat. But she didn't read the script and wants to stop the bus, forcing Jack to awkwardly reveal the existence of the bomb. That sure gets everyone's attention. Jack helps Helen administer some basic first aid to Sam.
