Jack informs Harry that the timer is a cheap gold watch, which should make them both remember their conversation in the elevator shaft, but for now is a confusing piece of information. Annie becomes increasingly frantic, eventually resorting to the bus mike to get Jack's attention and alert him to an upcoming traffic jam. Annie breaks her first rule, driving into the shoulder to avoid traffic, and then her second, launching a sports car into the air like a catapult. The first big tough decision occurs as Jack decides to get off the highway.
