July 23 2018. An unidentified hiker was found deceased in his tent weighing just 83 lb. His bag contained food, $3600 in cash and a notebook filled with handwritten programmer codes. His photo was circulated online in a quest to identify him. Many hikers came forward with their photos and stories of meeting him on the trail over the last year, but he never gave his real name. Instead he referred to himself as “Mostly Harmless” and said that he worked in the IT field. To unmask his real identity would take over two years and the power of the internet.
