December 1978. Billy Milligan is on trial for several violent crimes. Crimes he swears he didn’t commit even though there’s plenty of evidence that it was him. He claims the crimes were instead committed by a 19-year old lesbian named Adalana who was one of his personalities. He claims there are 24 people living inside of him and he’s just the vessel that transports them around and he has no control over what they do. This case was highly publicized as having the first defendant to use Multiple Personality Disorder as part of an insanity defense.
