This week, Heather and Larry delve into the language surrounding cancer discussions. They highlight the potential harm caused by certain words and implications when used in relation to patients with cancer.

Labeling someone as having "lost" their battle can be incredibly hurtful. Instead, it is more meaningful to celebrate the life they lived. Being a "survivor" should not be the sole defining characteristic, as each person's journey is unique. Furthermore, not all individuals with breast cancer resonate with the symbolism of pink ribbons or identify with specific groups.

While many people use these terms with good intentions, they may not fully grasp the impact their words can have.

Tune in to hear what words could be more helpful.

I'm Still Here is hosted by Heather and Larry Jose. Heather was diagnosed with Stage IV (Metastatic) Breast Cancer in 1998 at age 26.
