Stevivor’s Ben Salter and Steve Wright return for Friendly Fire Show 204, and they're fixated on the newest and shiniest things this week.
Here's what was discussed:
Welcome
- (0:00) We missed an important anniversary!
- (2:30) Steve’s back is… better?
- (7:00) Sam Kerr is on the cover of FIFA 23 – not just in Australia, the whole world!
Stray
- (9:30) We’ve both played it (but won't go into spoilers).
- It's yet another purrr-fect subscription game.
Dead on arrival free-to-play and awful microtransactions
- (18:40) MultiVersus microtransactions are insane – we can’t really call them micro.
- (25:30) Roller Champions has issues -- as we’ve discussed before -- so seems Ubisoft is trying to quietly kill it by indefinitely delaying future seasons.
Bungie is officially a Sony studio
- (30:20) It’s strange to see a first-party dev swap. Not many examples.
- (34:30) Now that’s done, there’s a new rumour Sony is considering buying the rest of Square Enix.
This week in delays
- (36:00) Lord of the Rings Gollum delayed until 2023, probably.
- Avatar Frontiers of Pandora delayed from 2022 to 2023 or 24.
