Description

In 1 Chronicles 6, the Chronicler takes us through the genealogy of the Levites. The tribe of Levi points us directly to Christ. To fulfill their assigned duties, they were spread throughout the land. They were to work to point people to the holiness of God, make sure God's law was still present and obeyed throughout all the areas and tribes, and teach the people of God about God. They modeled devotion to God for the whole community with their lives as their lives were wholly devoted to God and His plan and mission. The worship of God and pointing to all that God is was and still is the most important and central to all of life. Some of the priests worked in the Temple, some were priests, some were musicians, and some taught throughout the land. All were necessary elements for God's great plan to continue and they are still today. God's plans don't change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Just like the Levites, we should be focused on pointing people to the glory of God and who He is in and through all we do every day. We are the hands, the feet, and the mouth of our Lord Jesus Christ and we are commissioned to spread His Good News of redemption and freedom only found in and through Him to the ends of the earth. It starts right in our own communities. It starts in our daily lives - minute by minute - as we seek to glorify Him with all of our guts in all the moments - with every exhale.
