Description

In 1 Samuel 1 & 2, we find a man after God in the midst of all the evil during the time of Judges. Elkanah had two wives, he wasn't perfect - but he was seeking after God. His wife Peninnah would bully and taunt Hannah because she had children and Hannah did not. Hannah fervently cries out to God promising God that if He blesses her with a child, she will give him back to God. God hears her prayer and blesses her with a child. Samuel is born and Hannah rejoices. She honors her vow to God and Eli the priest receives the child. Eli had two horribly wicked sons who were stealing from God and standing in the way of God's people being allowed to properly worship and sacrifice to God. A warning is issued by God that judgment would fall for this. They are abusing their voices as priests and they would be held accountable for that. They fail to change, but God promises another judge would be raised. Samuel is residing alongside the priest and learning all the holy ways of God. Even further, she sees a Priest who will rise and be like no other - a Priest who will reign over kings forever. Jesus does come for us and He does reign for all eternity in all the glory, honor, and majesty He deserves. He died so we could have life. He paid the final sacrifice for all eternity so we can forever passionately worship Him.
