In 1 Samuel 26 & 27, David and his nephew march into a camp of 3000 of Saul's men who are on a mission to find David and kill him but yet are fast asleep. David takes Saul's sword and jug of water and then yells from the top of a hill to awaken them. He calls out Abner, the commander of the army and rebukes him for not watching out for the king of Israel. He shows him he has the sword and water and points out that absolutely no one was watching out for the king. Saul again apologizes but isn't truly repentant. He's sorry he looked like a fool in front of everyone, he's sorry he hasn't caught David or killed him yet, but he's not truly sorry for trying to kill David. David knows this and decides to hide out in the Philistine's land for 1 year and 4 months. He is very much liked by the king there and is given a city to stay in while he's there. David knows God is faithful and true. David knows he can trust God. David knows God's timing will come forth and that one day he will be king but he knows today is not that day. He waits on God and His perfect timing. We can trust God. We can stand firm that God is faithful. We can believe God's promises in our lives because God keeps His promises. Every single one.
