In 2 Chronicles 25, after Joash led the kingdom into great revival by faithfully trusting God heart and soul, his son Amaziah is the next king to rule. Amaziah started out good, but faltered. He knew God's law and started out following His ways, but wasn't wholeheartedly devoted to God heart and soul and it showed in his leadership of the kingdom and led to a decline in the nation's revival. Pride crept in and he waivered in his faith. He trusted in alliances rather than God for victories, he trusted in military numbers rather than God, and he ultimately trusted his own will rather than following God's. He started to worship false and fake gods and ended up facing the consequences of his choices to walk away from the Lord. A truly humble person pursuing God heart and soul sees things as God sees them. Pride, however, blinds the mind, distorts the vision, and puffs up the selfish ego. If we are willing to humbly submit our lives and hearts wholeheartedly to God - heart and soul, He will honor our faithfulness to Him. We can trust His goodness. We can trust His love. We can trust His mighty hand. He is a good-good Father and He won't let us go if we are willing to trust in Him with all our guts.
