Description

In 2 Samuel 12, God sends Nathan to call David out on his sin. David felt the heaviness and weight of the guilt of his sin before God called him out on it. He was miserable. He immediately responds in repentance. He doesn't respond with a lie, avoidance, blame shifting, attacking, or avoiding. He immediately says, yeah, I totally sinned against God and I'm so sorry! The very next statement is "the Lord has forgiven you". David wasn't perfect, he was human. He was also quick to repent and desperately wanted God above all. God forgives faster than we can blink when we repent. Repentance is met with forgiveness and redemption. David still had to face the earthly consequences of his sin choices just like we do today. We need to always keep our guard up because no one is immune to sin. Our flesh is weak. We can strengthen ourselves by intentionally spending time with God and in His Word. We can cultivate commitment to God. We can make sure we have people surrounding us that we trust who we can call on to hold us accountable. We need to anticipate temptations and be ready to fight with all we got. The great news is that when we accept Jesus as our Savior, His power resides in us so we got quite a LOT - we have our almighty Victor right here with us. God gave us all so we could inherit it all if we choose Him over this temporary world.
