In 2 Samuel 16, David blindly believes lies thrown at him. Then Shimei comes along and starts cursing David and his men, calling David names, and throwing stones at them. David's nephew wants to end him but David does not let him. David is humble and trusts God. He knows his identity is in God, not the words or stones this man is throwing. We need to always be alert. Be aware of what we are listening to and make sure it stands up to the truth of God and His Word. Resist anything that does not. We need to know the Father's voice by spending intentional time with Him so we don't fall into the trap of believing any lie from the enemy. We need to walk confidently in Christ and in who we are in Him. Even if stones are thrown, we can choose not to throw stones back. We can choose to speak truth under the loving humility of God and trust in Him completely. He is with us through it all.
