n 2 Samuel 18, the hair that Absalom loved and idolized so much became his end. He got stuck in a tree by his hair during battle and thus lost the battle. God gives us victory and when we trust and submit to God, we have His victory. When we concede to idols in our lives, they lead to our destruction. Two runners compete to bring David the news because they both believe it will be received as good news. One takes a direct route and one takes an indirect route. When David receives the news, he deeply mourns the loss of his son. His son was trying to kill him and take over his throne, but he still loved his son wholeheartedly and mourned his loss greatly. He wished he could have died in his son's place. God loves us unconditionally. He will never stop loving us no matter what we do. He sent Jesus, His one and only Son, to die in our place. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we have a direct route we can run straight to our Father. We can come to God in all of our moments - He desperately wants us to. God doesn't want to lose a single child. We can rejoice every day of our lives because when we accept Jesus, the news that we have to share is really truly Good News.
